Lifetime Sports & Fitness

The emphasis in these courses is on fitness and various individual and team sports that a person may participate in throughout life.  This is an individualized class where students develop their own fitness programs.  Each student also will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of individual and group activities.

Course Expectations

The physical education program is committed to the fullest development of students.  It is designed to aid the development of a student physically; provide for positive social experiences; develop proficiency in and an understanding of a variety of physical activities; provide for the student emphasis on worthwhile uses of leisure time.

A.    Each student will be expected to be prepared for class with proper physical education clothes.
B.    Each student will be expected to structure their own fitness program.
C.    Each student will be expected to accurately record daily fitness program on a Fitness & Weights
        Record Card. (blue card)
D.    Each student will be expected to respect other students and the special rules and regulations associated
        with the safety and functioning of physical education classes.

Grading Policy

Grading will be based on student's work ethic.  This work ethic will be evaluated during the first 30 minutes of the individual's fitness program, as well as during the remaining activity time, on a daily basis.  A letter grade will be received based on the following:

A.  Each day the student is in attendance will be worth 5 points and points will be deducted as follows:
1.  Excused absences:  no point deduction unless in excess of 3 days.  After 3 days, 5 points will be
      deducted for each absence in excess of 3 days.  (Exception: school activities do not count toward the
      3 days absent.)  Absence on the last day of the quarter will be assumed unexcused unless instructor is
      notified before grading is completed.
2.  Unexcused absence: -5 points
3.  Not dressed down: -2 points
4.  Participation: 1 point/Max of -5 per day (This includes loss of workout time due to being tardy.)
5.  Leaving physical education areas early: -3 points (Remain in respective Locker Rooms)
6.  Initialing of cards: -1 point
B.  90% of total possible points = A
     80% of total possible points = B
     70% of total possible points = C
     60% of total possible points = D
C.  No make-ups will be given.
