Course Description

Course Objective:

            The goal of this class is to further develop your skills in the areas of writing and reading by utilizing parallel curriculum sources to supplement and support the general education benchmarks.  You will be provided with direct, specially designed instruction that reflects your I.E.P.’s goals and objectives.  Additionally, you will receive tutorial assistance to aid you in the completion of your mainstreamed assignments and support in the areas of study & organizational skills.

 

Class Rules & Behavioral Expectations:

ü      Always do your best work!

ü      Be on time.

ü      Be prepared with the materials you will be working on for LSC.

ü      Be respectful of the rights and learning styles of others.

ü      No cell phones

ü      Remember that headphones are a privilege for independent work and need to be

 kept at a quiet volume.

ü      You must have a planner/tracking assignment sheet

How will you be graded in the English Lab?

 

Every time that you are in the English Lab you will be asked to fill out a “Daily Tracking Sheet” and reflect in your journal about your goals and your use of English Lab time.  We will review this with you and make any necessary changes.

Along with the “Daily Tracking Sheets” we will be working on understanding your IEP (Individual Education Plan), advocating for yourself, and developing study skills.  These will be integrated into our English Lab period and assignments will have specified points, which will also be part of your grade.

 

The grading scale is as follows:

90-100%

A

80-90%

B

70-80%

C

60-70%

D

Below 60%

Failing

Because parents are an integral part of student’s academic success, we ask that you read and sign below indicating that you will commit to reviewing your student’s assignment tracking system on a weekly basis.  Please Return to Ms. Evans/Ms. Reeves by: 9/14/09
