TEXTBOOK: Glencoe Health and a variety of other materials related to the topics and issues being studied.
GOALS:
Students will:
Understand, create, support, and be supported by safe and healthy
environments.
Understand the importance of living a healthy life throughout the
lifespan.
Understand and integrate concepts for a healthy and fit body.
Analyze health information, products and services while considering media,
technological, and cultural influences.
ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS:
Be prepared for class. Show
up with your textbook, paper and a writing utensil.
GUIDELINES TO YOUR SUCCESS:
Be
in the room when the bell rings at the beginning of the period to avoid being
marked tardy.
Come to class ready to learn.
Be ready to participate in all activities and to be on task.
Give responsible responses and extend common courtesy to others.
Do
not eat, drink or sleep in this class.
Any
assignment that is not completed in class will be homework.
Assignments must be turned in on the due date at the beginning of the
period.
Late
work will be given one-half credit (50%).
Make
up work will be allowed for excused absences only.
You will have one day to make up work for the day you were gone (If you
were gone for two days, you have two days to make up the work).
LETTER GRADES:
Letter grades will be based upon the percentage of points earned throughout the semester. Every assignment, quiz, project, and unit exam will be given a point value. Health I is a required class for graduation and will be given a grade for the course at the end of the semester. You will gain points from the following activities:
Warm-ups
Daily assignments
Projects
Unit exams
A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%
F = 0-59%
