PSYCHOLOGY 1
An Introduction to Psychology

Synopsis
Psychology is a swiftly evolving, multidimensional and integrated study of the mind, the brain and behavior. Psychology I (PSY I) is both academic and applied. Our journey will explore the history of psychology, notable theorists, research methodology, controversial issues, major subfields and many other topics covered in the units below. Psychology is a valuable area of study for all students, having practical applications in any career -- and within our daily lives. PSY I is an introductory survey course, designed to provide a challenging, rigorous, enlightening and rewarding experience -- while also serving as a preparation and prerequisite for our more advanced and in-depth PSY 2: Abnormal & Forensic Psychology.
Activities
Psychology 1 (PSY 1) is activity-based, with an applied learning focus. Activities include observations, experiments, field work, guest speakers, journals, interviews, simulations, presentations, team and individual projects, film studies, discussions and debates. Analytical writing, inquiry, logic, critical thinking, problem solving, reading, public speaking, the effective & relevant use of technology and various projects are additional, significant features of Psychology.
