RULES  FOR  SUCCESS  IN  MATHEMATICS

 

1.         Come to class prepared.

                        a)  Have homework completed.

                       

                        b)  Ask questions to clarify concepts.

 

c)  Take notes on your homework to reinforce information given in

class.  Make corrections.  Use your homework as a study guide for all tests and quizzes.

 

 

2.         Pay attention in class. 

                        a)  Take notes.

 

                        b)  Ask questions.

 

c)  Take ownership of your education by asking me to slow down or

            repeat material given in class if you do not understand completely.

 

 

3.         Start the homework the night it is assigned.  What appears to be easy in class becomes difficult 48 hours later.

 

 

4.         Read the textbook.

 

 

5.         State, in your own words, the central concept of each section being studied.  Write this concept on the top of your homework.

 

 

6.         Seek help when needed.  Options include the teacher, peer tutors, classmates, outside tutors.  Seek help often.  Do not wait until the day before a test.
